People

This painting was requested as a kind of memorial. The woman in the painting recently lost her battle with cancer and is holding the child of my client. She wanted the painting done in a sepia tone and given a softer look.

Biblical Accent Murals

These are a series of paintings I did in a large church over various doorways. They wanted a softer more inviting alternative to the generic signs used previously. All paintings shown were done freehand, neither stencils nor projection were used.

The first two pictures shown are above doorways separated by approximately 5' of wall that protrudes 1'. Both doors lead to the sanctuary, but when closed that is not apparent, therefore both doors needed signage and they needed to match. Because I was on a ladder and could not see the first banner, I took a photo of it, taped it to the wall above where I was painting and worked off of that for the second, to match the details as closely as possible.

The Parlor door is positioned at a 90 degree angle to the Sanctuary doors and needed to tie in.

The next area of the project was the entrance to the Sanctuary off the elevator. Because of the amount of wall space available I created a design that let people know they were entering the Sanctuary without a direct label.

The final piece of the series was done in the basement over the doors that led to the fellowship hall. Again a biblical quote was used in place of direct labeling. An antique replica of the Last Supper was placed next to the mural to complete the invitation of fellowship.

Here the doors are still closed but painted to appear open on top.

The client wanted the mural to be whimsical so I have a little barn mouse feeding the horse a bit of hay.
