A little bit of everything...

This was a painting that I did for my dad. He loves the southwest landscape and color scheme, and the horses added the perfect touch for that true "western" setting.

This was a "just because" painting that I did, which is currently hanging in our living room. I found a black and white picture online and decided to paint it in color. To me it looked like one of those amazing days when a storm rolls through dark and heavy, but the sun is coming from the other direction and the contrast is just brilliant.

This is my little Happy Herbie (as you can see) It is in the Heart of my Heart style of painting that I have previously posted. I did this painting in celebration of my transition from being a vegetarian to vegan, and I it hangs happily in my kitchen :)

This is a trio of paintings I was commissioned to do of my client's family farmstead in north central Kansas. The bottom right is the main house, which, at the time of my visit to the location, no longer had a roof due to fire caused by lighting. Fortunately my client had a couple of pictures from her visits there years ago. Above that is the barn in its current condition, which is remarkable considering it was built in 1898! And finally the painting on the left is from the perspective of one of the out buildings looking to the west. I especially love how the stones along the left side of the painting turned out.

This was a commissioned piece as well, and every detail of the dog (Baxter the Assassin) was specifically requested, blue mohawk, happy cute face, splattered with the blood of his enemies! I never would have thought when asked, "what are you doing today" I would respond with "painting a bullet belt". It was quite liberating! :) And while this was an entirely new direction for me, I could not be more thrilled with the outcome and am so excited to have had the opportunity to attempt something so outside my wheel house.

Growing in Music

Recently I did a painting inspired by my husband's and my love of music and nature, combining a tree and guitar. I saw a digital picture that was somewhat similar a while back and decided to do my own spin on it.
This is what I came up with.

From this I decided to go a step further and create a print that could be used for a silkscreen image. With a little tweaking I created this:

And with this design I am so excited to begin creating these wonderful, one of a kind totes, purses, and little bags!!

You may have noticed in the water marked print above, the line "Since 1957" on either side of the tree. This is the year my husband was born, but I can replace that with any year from 1900 to 2012. Or, shown in the photos directly above, that part can be left off entirely, it's your choice!
Since I have just begun creating these, I do not have much in the way of photos just yet, but I was so excited to share with you all that I just couldn't wait!
So check back soon for a link to my etsy store site where I will be listing a variety of lined totes to choose from.
Thank you so much for stopping by and please come again soon!
